Discover the Musée National Eugène-Delacroix’s permanent collectionsSummer 2020
Entry exceptionally free of charge.
Come and rediscover the Musée National Eugène-Delacroix’s permanent collections this summer. In the painter’s last residence and studio, enjoy some of his most iconic works: Mary Magdalene in the Desert, which inspired the likes of Baudelaire; The Education of the Virgin; Romeo and Juliet; and the fresco Bacchus with a Tiger.
And beyond the masterpieces, admire the artist’s lesser-known works that demonstrate his many talents and offer greater insight into his creative process—from sketches to finished paintings, and drawings made using a variety of techniques.
Alongside his oeuvre, the museum also presents pieces by Delacroix’s entourage. Portraits by Thales Fielding, for example, with whom he exchanged a number of works, and copies of The Death of Sardanapalus made by his friends.
