Thanks to a special loan from the Musée Picasso in Paris, in conjunction with its 30th anniversary, the Musée Delacroix welcomes Pablo Picasso into Delacroix’s studio. The great Romantic artist was an early source of inspiration for Picasso, and his influence is unmistakable. During the winter of 1945–55, the Catalan genius drew on one of Delacroix’s masterpieces, Women of Algiers in Their Apartment (Paris, Musée du Louvre, Department of Paintings), to express his interest in a remarkable new way. This exceptional exhibition forms a bridge between the Musée Delacroix collection and Picasso’s prints and drawings and pays tribute to two beacons of modern painting.
