The Musée Delacroix boasts an extensive set of resources on the life and work of the painter, made available to the public. This unique heritage fund, comprising the first catalogues raisonnés of Delacroix’s work, bibliographic works, publications of his writings, and facsimiles from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, has been enriched over the years. The resource center features a library and archives, open to all, from art professionals to Delacroix enthusiasts.

The resource center currently holds 2,200 publications, as well as files on works in the museum’s collection and themed files.

The files are grouped into main themes:

  • Delacroix’s oeuvre: paintings, drawings, engravings, and writings
  • Delacroix’s entourage: family, loved ones, friends, collectors
  • contemporary artists, his followers, but also authors and other renowned figures of the time, particularly those who had contact with Delacroix during his lifetime
  • more generally Romanticism, 19th-century art, sources of inspiration, theater, literature, the writings of contemporaries
  • Delacroix’s legacy, notably the founding of the Musée Eugène-Delacroix by the Société des Amis d’Eugène Delacroix
